When Tradition Needs Evolution

A reflection on the next chapter of kundalini activation and energy work.

When Tradition Needs Evolution

There is so much changing in the world of energy work right now.Not just collectively — though we can all feel that — but within the practices we use to heal, awaken, and return to ourselves.

The spiritual landscape is shifting. Something is opening. Something is calling us deeper.

And with that, we are being asked to look honestly at the ways we practice this work — especially in the kundalini activation space.

This isn’t new. It’s something we’ve seen happen across many healing lineages. But it’s especially visible here — because kundalini activation is ancient, yet its rise in the West has been recent, rapid, and often unaccompanied by the kind of mentorship, context, and integration guidance that such potent work really requires.

And when something spreads quickly, it’s vulnerable to being shaped into something it was never meant to become.

What Happens When a Living Practice Meets Western Structures

When kundalini activation entered the mainstream wellness world, much of it became taught and transmitted through a single lineage — not because that lineage is “wrong” or lacking wisdom, but because it was one of the first to introduce this work in an accessible way.

Naturally, many practitioners began facilitating in the exact way they were taught. Not because they lacked intuition. Not because they didn’t trust themselves. But because it was the only model they had ever seen — and trusting one’s own channel takes time, courage, and maturity.

Energy work asks us to listen to what is alive in the moment. But our minds crave structure, safety, rules, and guarantees. And so, without meaning to, we often replace relationship with replication.

But Kundalini Was Never Meant to Be Standardised

Kundalini is not a brand.Energy is not a technique.Awakening cannot be packaged, trademarked, or controlled.

It is primal. It is ancient. It is cosmic and cellular. It moves according to its own intelligence — not according to a training manual.

As the collective nervous system opens, as more people awaken, as more of us become energetically sensitive, we need to ask ourselves:

  • Where are we replicating outdated structures simply because they feel familiar?

  • Where are we privileging the “method” over what is actually happening in the body?

  • Where are we afraid to trust ourselves because it would mean stepping into responsibility, sovereignty, and authorship?

We Are at a Threshold

And the threshold isn’t about abandoning what came before. It’s about expanding beyond it.

The next chapter of this work calls for:

• Trauma-informed understanding

• Nervous system literacy

• Cultural and ancestral context

• Discernment

• Humility

• Deep listening to your own channel

• Reverence for the body and spirit as collaborators, not objects of intervention

This is not rebellion. This is evolution.

A New Paradigm of Facilitators

Facilitators who can hold this work responsibly will be the ones who understand:

That the body leads.

That the energy knows.

That integration is as important as activation.

That awakening cannot be rushed.

That sovereignty must be protected, not performed.

This next wave of energy work is not about bigger sessions, stronger sensations, or more dramatic experiences.

It is about depth.

Stability.

Coherence.

Trust.

And remembering that awakening is a living field... and living things grow.

Where I Stand

I honour the lineages and teachers who carried this work forward.

And I also honour the intelligence of the energy itself, which is always evolving.

I believe we are being invited to listen more deeply.

To let go of the idea that there is one right way.

To find our own channels, not as ego, but as devotion.

Awakening is alive.

And we’re here to grow with it.
